The World Of Popular Music

Posted by No comments

There’s an awful lot of new faces and sounds permeating the musical airwaves in the realm of popular music. Although heavy beats and play on words are always fashionable, the people behind the sounds are a fresh bunch to be sure. Television has brought out a lot more new stars from every corner of the world. There are good ole rockers that don’t need to look pretty for anyone and are more intent on producing quality tunes that people will remember twenty years from now, but there are also the trendy singers that have created new sounds and add their wardrobes- or lack of- to the current pulse of sound. Whatever moves more than one spirit is what goes on today’s music charts. In the country music scene, there’s still the fun and heartbreak, but some of the old timers from the 1960s have resurfaced adding nostalgic voices to the mix. Trucks, parties, the great outdoors, and the one that got away continue to be sources of country lyrics. Women continue to empower themselves in every aspect of life in country music. Remember when country started stealing from rock roots? How much longer before it morphs into hiphop cow pop? Got a nice ring to it, but can you dance to it? And how would you? If your Sundays carry over throughout the week, the contemporary and gospel music genre has lots of good sounds that provide thoughtful messages even to the most distraught minds. Even people not tuned into religion may get an energetic boost or find a philosophical universal message from tried and true favorites or new souls for the Word. Just because it’s Christian doesn’t mean you can’t get a groove on and move your feet. I double dare you to sit still through upbeat tunes. There used to be a time when tv theme songs were some of the best of the best in music as far as catchy music. Maybe that’s an area that production teams could try to beef up on. Even the really good shows aren’t as hummable as they could be or maybe it’s not that big of a selling aspect anymore. New shows on the stage seem to bring out one or two for those that like Broadway. So let’s get the pointy toed boots on, strap the guitar over a shoulder, tap an over sized drumstick on a fifteen foot lolly pop, and wail along wearing a sequined bustier. Just don’t try to break dance in that get up or it could be painful. At least most of the music out currently won’t be.
